Ok, I promise, I’ll get to Live Captions in just a second, but first a quick update…
We’ve been busy! It’s been the summer and Tracey and I are both educators. I travelled around Europe and Canada with my family, while Tracey spent time closer to home. However, we certainly haven’t been sat around, and you’ll be hearing about our plans for Listening Accessability soon.
At the start of the year I was given the opportunity to take part in an Innovation Project with Dell Canada, I set out to look at how we could bring Live Captioning to the masses, in schools, but also in a wider setting, and this gave birth to ZipCaptions.
ZipCaptions is a live captioning tool with a difference, it allows users the opportunity to not only use accurate voice to text services, but it also allows them to stream these captions to others devices. Imagine in the classroom, the teacher is able to stream to all of the students devices, so what the teacher says, and what is picked up by the teachers device, now appears on the screens of the students. Add to this the fact that we have streaming support for OBS, and we have a whole load of customisation features, ZipCaptions is a flexible tool which can work for anyone, anywhere.
Captions benefit everyone, from the language learner, to the hard of hearing, so that’s why we’re excited to be bringing something new to the table. So what are you waiting for? Come and try out ZipCaptions today at https://zipcaptions.app (and while you’re at it, combine it with a wireless microphone set to make your captions more accurate).
I’m indebted to my friend James Petersen who ha dedicated the last 4 months to making ZipCaptions a reality, and is always striving to push it further.
